Classes are approved by MS BLEOST for continuing education ("Johnny Martin") hours as mandated for MS law enforcement officers MS Code 45-6-19.
 
Tuition for all courses must be paid in full or PO received prior to the start date of the course.
 
All training is located at Southern Regional Public Safety Institute (SRPSI), Bldg 1481, 14th Street Camp Shelby, MS 39407 unless otherwise noted.
 
 
Lodging & Meals $80 per night, includes 3 meals
Lodging only $60 per night
Meals only $8 per meal


Conveniently located on site.

Bed Linens are provided, Towels/Wash Cloths are not.

ABOUT THE CLASS

The three-weapon system update for firearms instructors will emphasize the integration and proficiency of pistol, rifle, and shotgun training to enhance tactical versatility and effectiveness in various scenarios. Instructors will focus on teaching proper techniques for transitioning between these platforms, including the advantages and limitations of each weapon type. The update will incorporate advanced drills that simulate real-world environments, encouraging students to develop situational awareness and quick decision-making skills. Additionally, the curriculum would cover maintenance, safety protocols, and ammunition selection to ensure students are well-equipped for their roles in law enforcement. Emphasis on legal considerations and ethical responsibilities of firearm usage would also be a key component of the training.

This is MS BLEOST Approved Firearms Instructor Class.

INSTRUCTOR  
Jason "Jabo" Long has been a Law enforcement officer for 25 years retiring in in 2022.

Eighteen of those years were spent on a full-time SWAT team in a major municipality/County.  Over hundreds and hundreds of missions he brings firsthand tactical experience.  As a lead instructor for not only his team but various other institutions, he brings real-world practical experience to combat Firearms training.  His is a phenomenal skill set as an instructor from attending numerous shooting and Tactical schools to constantly update his individual abilities as an instructor to make sure he presents the best he can to the attendees in the TOSS classes.

ABOUT THE CLASS
SFST is a 24-hour curriculum that trains the officer on the administration and observation of the 3 validated field sobriety tests to determine if someone is under the influence of something. The officer will be trained on the tests as well as the State laws to enhance their ability to make DUI arrests and testify to these observations in court.
Attendance for all three days is mandatory
Recertification will be offered at 1500 on Day 1.
Each attendee must be a certified Law Enforcement Officer.

ABOUT THE CLASS
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is geared towards anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.

ABOUT THE CLASS
The challenge of recruiting and retaining the best candidates and developing them into officers has become a constant feature of the police manager’s daily concerns. In each agency no matter the size, recruitment and retention is among the top challenges.  Participants will learn the latest best practices and evidence-based solutions for recruiting, consider their agency’s strengths for recruiting the best qualified candidates, and discover the latest trends regarding officer retention. Additionally, the impact of retention on sergeant, line-level supervisor, FTO, and detective appointments will be discussed.
INSTRUCTOR
This seminar on recruitment and workforce management is facilitated by Dr. Charlie Scheer of Å·²©ÓéÀÖ³Ç, a nationally-recognized subject matter expert on recruitment and a sworn sheriff's deputy since 2001.

ABOUT THE CLASS
This comprehensive 3-Day Instructor Certification Program covers Impact Munitions, Chemical Munitions, OC/Aerosols & Flash-Bang/Sting-Balls. The course is structure for officers seeking Less-Lethal certification and is conducted on an 8-hour/day basis. It includes a blend of classroom sessions and range exercise focusing on the historical background, nomenclature, applications, use of force considerations, training, real aspects and the integration of Less-Lethal munitions into current departmental practices. The program offers flexibility, allowing participants to register for individual course days based on their preferences.
